Is Photoshop CS6 Worth It?

adobe photoshop

When it comes to computer graphics software, there’s nothing to beat Adobe Photoshop. It’s been ruling the industry as well as the market for years and the latest release is the Photoshop CS6 package. But, if you’ve already got the CS5 installed on your computer, do you need to move on to the CS6?

The choice is yours and you should be the one who decides, let’s take a look at some of the features of the CS6 that were not present in the previous versions. If that’s what you need, it would be advisable to upgrade.

The Content Aware Patch

Very often we find the need to remove a certain area of the image without distorting the surrounding areas. Now, with the new patch on the content aware feature you would be able to remove anything from images such as vehicles, people and even plants and pets. Once you remove what you don’t need, Photoshop then tries to patch the image up to the best of its ability and usually it’s perfect!

The Mercury Graphics Engine

When using Warp or the other distortion tools, you usually have to wait a while in order to see the change made in the image and then you’d need to adjust the settings if you’re not happy and then wait again. This could be really frustrating and that’s the reason the new feature is included which gives you a better work experience as you don’t waste time waiting.

The Amazing crop tool

Even though I was really happy with the crop tool in CS5, I’m extremely shocked to notice that it’s got even better – never imagined that was possible. The new tool selects the entire image and gives you a huge range of options which are really helpful.

The Blur Gallery

Blur is something that all graphic designers use and with the new blur options make the images seem professional, rather than struggling with tilt shift effects, you could just use the new options available. Moreover, you can now choose more than one focal point when creating your blurs and that’s one heck of a feature!

There are plenty of other amazing features that have been added to the Adobe Photoshop C6 such as Adaptive wide angle and background save. But, these are totally new features; if you consider the number of changes made to the existing features, the list would go on and on.

Therefore, if you’re a professional graphic designer, you should definitely get yourself the latest version of Photoshop.
